Yesterday Jocelyn Guyer and I attended the funeral of one of
our national colleagues, Lisa Codispoti, from the National Women’s Law Center.
Lisa was an incredibly dedicated, smart and funny advocate who worked for many
years at SEIU prior to joining NWLC’s staff – always fighting tirelessly for
health coverage.
As you will see from a NWLC blog that Lisa wrote earlier
this year, Lisa’s commitment to health care was rooted in an intensely personal battle
with Lisa’s own serious health challenges. I was frankly shocked to hear of
Lisa’s serious condition – her energy, good humor and tireless dedication to
her work did not bely such a burden.
As we continue to work for strong implementation of the
Affordable Care Act I will keep Lisa and her spirit in mind.
